The Australian actor has shown a photo of himself on his Instagram and Twitter account, revealing his nose covered with dressing just after the removal of basal cell skin cancer.

“An example of what happens when you don’t wear sunscreen. Basal Cell. The mildest form of cancer but serious, nonetheless, PLEASE USE SUNSCREEN and get regular check-ups.”

And guess what. This is the actor’s fifth known basal cell cancer since 2013. Scary enough?

Cancer cases related to similar skin cells are actually on the rise every year. There are 300,000 cases of the same form of skin cancer yearly in Australia alone. And though this form of cancer rarely results in death, specialists are still warning us that it may cause serious damage to the skin, especially to the face, if left untreated.

This news not only tells us what happened to one of our favorite X-Men stars, but it is an affirmation that sunscreen is not just another part of our daily morning regimen that will help prevent sunburn. It is rather a proven solution to protect our skin from sun damage cause by the sun’s UVB and UVA rays.

Following this public warning, we should know how to choose the perfect sunscreen product and differentiate the best ones from the rest.

But no need to worry, how could we go wrong with Safe Sea?

Water resistance is one of the key parameters in choosing a sunscreen too – Safe Sea has been graded ‘Very Water Resistant’ which means it can last up to 80 minutes even during aquatic activities.

It has broad-spectrum as well – with up to SPF 95 – that promises a faster speed to treat the skin against the damaging UVB and UVA rays.

And the best part? It can protect us from jellyfish stings too.
